We at Philex Mining Corporation believe in constantly looking for ways to innovate — to be safer, more efficient, and more responsible in conducting our operations.
We recognize that our business should create economic and social benefits for all of our stakeholders, and that the communities where we mine should reap these benefits — even long after our presence.
Padcal Mine has been in operation since 1958 and is the first underground block cave operation in the Far East. Since it started, it has been producing copper concentrates, with gold and silver as by-products. It has also become the home to almost 2,000 employees and 15,000 people in a community of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, who enjoy socio-economic benefits and a host of opportunities such as free health and medical services, free elementary and heavily subsidized high school education, and access to livelihood far more ideal than most urban areas.
As we prepare for A NEW DAWN RISING — ushering in the “new normal” as economies and businesses all over the world deal with the fallout from the global COVID-19 pandemic — we continue to live up to our commitment to our stakeholders in Padcal mine, creating a positive legacy as a responsible miner — today, tomorrow, and the dawns to come.
