About the Theme
2020 was an exceptionally challenging year as it was punctuated by tumultuous events: the Taal volcano eruption, devastating typhoons, and the onset of the COVID-19 global pandemic. The battered economy suffered its worst annual contraction since 1998. Against these odds, the DOF played a critical role in ensuring theavailability of and mobilizing resources to combat the pandemic. Nursing the economy back to recovery and carefully pursuing prudent fiscal policy, it is fortifying the fiscal fortress to further shield the economy from external shocks.
